The announcement of the 12 GB version of the RTX 4080 would probably want to erase Nvidia from the minds of all hardware fans. Now, however, the graphics card manufacturer is making another attempt and is selling the slimmed-down RTX 4080 under a new name at a lower price.

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti: Nvidia introduces new graphics card

Nvidia wanted $899 for the 12 GB version of the RTX 4080. But the presentation of the smaller 4080 version ended in a debacle. Shortly after the announcement, Nvidia backed down spectacularly and decided to hit the “unlaunch button” and put the map on hold.

But now it’s back – just under a different name and with a lower RRP. In the CES live stream, Nvidia briefly presented the new one Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti before, whose performance data are the same as the RTX 4080 mentioned at the time. The new RRP is 899 euros – according to an official press release. The sale of the card will start on January 5, 2023.

The announcement also reveals that Nvidia no Founders Edition of the map will offer. Interested parties must therefore look directly for maps from third-party providers. However, it remains to be seen whether these will be based on Nvidia’s recommended retail price – or whether the cards will be offered at a significantly higher price at the start.

With a price tag of 899 euros, Nvidia is right under the prices of AMD’s RX 7900 XT and 7900 XTX, but it remains to be seen how the Nvidia card performs in a direct performance comparison with the competing models. We are currently assuming that Nvidia is ahead in terms of ray tracing, but will lose out on other things.

Nvidia itself states that the card is primarily to gamers with high refresh rate WQHD monitors directs and is even faster than the RTX 3090 Ti. It remains to be seen in which cases this will be the case.
