Nvidia: Power connection as the source of the problem
Nvidia initially used the affected 16-pin power connector for its own RTX 3090 Ti cards and later used it for others. It has become the standard for all manufacturers. There have been concerns before that the 12VHPWR power connector could cause problems, when bent in a certain way. Plugs and ports are much smaller than the previous generation.
Among other things, the YouTuber JayzTwoCents has been warning of the connection for weeks and called him “dangerous”.. A marketing manager at Nvidia reportedly emailed him that he was “worried about problems that don’t exist” (source: The Verge).
