NS app gets 2 new functions for public transport bicycles

In the NS app it is now possible to see when you are using an OV-fiets. In this way you can ask for help in case of a defect or you can find out where in the neighborhood you can best drop off the bicycle. The features are available with the latest update of the app.

When you get off a train, it may be that you still want to travel a long way, but that a bus or tram is not the best option. In that case, an OV-fiets can be a good choice. Since an update in 2015, you can search for available public transport bicycles in the NS app using the ‘In the neighbourhood’ function. With update 6.27.1, the app works better as a companion for those shared bikes.

As soon as you have unlocked an OV-fiets with your OV-chipkaart, it will now also be shown in the NS app that you are using a bicycle. As soon as you are done with your bike, you can see where it is best to return it. You will then find the storage facility closest to you.

If you often use the OV-fiets, there is a chance that you will have to deal with damage or a non-functioning part. Previously you could contact NS customer service by email and you had to provide your bicycle number, but now you can report faster via the app. You can then return the bicycle for repair.
