Nobody can avoid this iPhone: The price tip for bargain hunters

With the new iPhone SE (2022), Apple has raised prices. The cheapest entry into the iPhone world is now 519 euros. However, the cheapest choice does not always have to be the smartest. Another iPhone costs only slightly more – and in my opinion offers better value for money. A personal recommendation for bargain hunters.

Apple has really not given the iPhone SE (2022) many innovations. With the exception of the new A15 chip, almost everything remains the same. That doesn’t have to be bad, because with the “Special Edition” Apple is primarily targeting people who want a handy iPhone with Touch ID – that’s half the truth. The other: The iPhone SE was always the cheapest entry into the iPhone world. Anyone who wanted an iPhone for as little money as possible grabbed the iPhone SE.

But cheap does not have to mean good value for money. The new iPhone SE (2022) makes a huge leap up: from 479 euros for the predecessor to 519 euros now. This changes the signs and the question of which iPhone can be considered the best value for money has to be answered anew.

The advantages of the iPhone 11 are enormous

At 519 euros, the new iPhone SE is more expensive than that, depending on the offer iPhone 11. There is currently at Mobilcom-Debitel for 486 euros without a contract with 64 GB (view at Mobilcom-Debitel) Although it is around 2.5 years old, it is far from being old-fashioned. The advantages of the iPhone 11 over the iPhone SE (2022) are enormous:

• larger display with higher resolution,
• FaceID,
• dual camera,
• higher resolution selfie camera,
• longer battery life,
• better protection against dust and water and
• more color choices

Apart from the more compact dimensions and lighter weight The main arguments in favor of the iPhone SE (2022) are the new and more powerful A15 processor, the 5G support and longer software updates.

In my opinion, only the last argument really holds water. If the past serves as a yardstick, the new iPhone SE will receive software updates for at least six to seven years – ideally by 2029. Because the iPhone 11 has been available for more than two years, it should be over by 2026. Apple coordinates the hardware and software so finely that the A13 processor in the iPhone 11 should also ensure sufficient performance in everyday life for a long time to come. the practical benefits of 5G are likely to be a long time coming, at least in Germany.

My advice to bargain hunters is therefore: Better buy the iPhone 11. The bottom line is that it offers better value for money – and costs less at Mobilcom-Debitel than the iPhone SE (2022) at Apple. You can’t go wrong for 486 euros (see Mobilcom-Debitel).
