New Telegram: how to translate your messages on the fly?
Communicating with your friends on the other side of the world has never been easier with the Telegram translation tool! Even without knowing the language, you can easily make yourself understood. Of course, this option works both ways and you can even use it on different Telegram-compatible devices.
How to enable translations in Telegram?
Telegram has a dedicated section to choose your preferred language. You can activate the translation of messages in this same menu. Open the Telegram app and tap the hamburger menu (the three horizontal lines) in the top left corner. Head to the Settings then in the section Language. Then activate Show the “Translate” button.
How do I exclude languages from translation?
Multilingual people can easily do without automatic translations. The Telegram app allows you to exclude your native language or those you are fluent in from the same settings menu. After enabling translation in Telegram by following the steps above, a new option called Do not translate appears. Press it. On the next screen, use the checkboxes to select the languages you don’t need translations for.
How to translate messages on Telegram?
With the translation feature enabled in the app, you only need a few clicks to convert your messages in real time. Select a conversation and tap the message you want to translate to open a pop-up menu. In the list of options, tap Translate to allow the application to automatically identify the language of the message. You will see the message translated into French (or the default language you use on Telegram). Press on close translation when you’re done to return to the chat and continue exchanging messages. Your correspondent can do the same on his side of course!
