New OPPO A78 5G harks back to the past
OPPO has just officially launched the OPPO A78 in the Netherlands. With the new phone, the company has not been able to hide its nostalgic feelings. The device has, among other things, a notch, a hefty chin and an HD + panel. What else does the smartphone have to offer?

OPPO’s A-line is the manufacturer’s cheapest smartphone line and includes the company’s budget handsets from 150 to 300 euros. Among other things, the phones have to compete – as can be seen in the name – with Samsung’s A-line. The OPPO A78 is the new member of the A series and succeeds the A77 5G. This device had a screen with a low HD+ resolution, the A78 has not been upgraded.

Better camera and OPPO Glow
In terms of cameras, the A78 5G must be a step forward compared to its predecessor. OPPO replaces the 48 MP main camera for a 50 MP one and, according to the manufacturer, you should be able to capture crystal clear images with a higher resolution. The camera has a night mode. In addition to the 50 MP main camera, the phone has a 2 MP depth sensor. At the front you will find – in a notch – an 8 MP selfie camera.
The device also has a 6.65-inch HD+ LCD panel with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. All this is packed in a plastic back and frame with the so-called OPPO Glow. This stands for several layers that together should form the effect of snow crystals and a shimmering look. OPPO itself reports the following about this: “The OPPO A78 5G has a striking design with beautiful accents, including polished rings around the camera module and a pattern that is reminiscent of a sparkling light beam that extends across the back.”
