For months, PC gamers have been waiting for Nvidia to release new information about the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. The new top graphics card was shown at this year’s CES, but after that Nvidia didn’t say a single word about the upcoming flagship. Now there are new leaks, but they don’t bode well.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090

RTX 3090 Ti: Only 5 to 10 percent faster than the 3090?

After several postponements, the RTX 3090 Ti should finally appear on March 29, 2022. Nvidia presented the upgraded version of the RTX 3090 for the first time at CES. However, not much information about the new graphics card champion was released during the show – and there could be good reasons for that.

According to some current rumors, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is definitely faster than the current top model, however, the difference in performance between the two graphics cards appears to be surprisingly small. A maximum increase in performance of 5 to 10 percent is currently in the room – and even that has to be bought at a high price. ‘Cause if you believe the rumor mill the power consumption of the RTX 3090 Ti is a proud 450 watts. For comparison: The RTX 3090 consumes 350 watts, almost 22 percent less.

And what else interesting happened in the gaming and tech world? We’ll tell you in the GIGA Insights:

Is Nvidia’s new top graphics card cheaper than expected?

In the past, many leakers assumed the MSRP of the RTX 3090 Ti to be $1,999. However, voices are now being raised claiming that Nvidia’s upcoming flagship will be offered at a significantly lower price. A price of 1,499 US dollars is currently in the room – That’s how much the RTX 3090 cost when it was launched in September 2020 (source: videocardz.com).

Due to the sharp fall in graphics card prices and the increased power consumption of the RTX 3090 Ti, this assumption is anything but wrong. In the same breath, however, Nvidia would then have to lower the MSRP of the RTX 3090. This is currently 1,649 euros in Germany. Alternatively, Nvidia could completely phase out the RTX 3090 and replace it with the RTX 3090 Ti.

Should the graphics card leader consider such a step, however, the first leaks would probably already be making the rounds. At this point in time, we therefore assume that the RTX 3090 Ti and RTX 3090 will coexist.
