The iPad mini 2021 has only just been released, but the rumor mill about the possible successor is already in full swing. Will it be an iPad mini 2022, or maybe an iPad mini 7? We don’t know yet, but according to the latest rumors, the next iPad mini will have a ProMotion screen. This 120Hz display supports a very high refresh rate and can also be the solution to the ‘jelly scrolling’ problem.
The biggest advantages of a ProMotion screen are that your iPad mini feels faster and the scrolling is much smoother. Another advantage is that you last longer with a battery charge. This has everything to do with the refresh rate that can fluctuate: from 10 to 120Hz.
You do not have to adjust the refresh rate yourself, but it is done automatically. For example, if you watch a movie recorded at 24 fps, the ProMotion screen also refreshes 24 times per second. It uses the display no more energy than necessary, which is beneficial for the battery life.

The iPad mini 2021
The iPad mini will be less ‘mini’ in terms of screen size in 2021. That is namely 8.3 inches, while its direct predecessor still had a display of 7.9 inches. However, the screen edges have become a lot narrower and the resolution has also been boosted a bit. The iPad mini 2021 has a mini LED display as in the iPad Pro, but does not have ProMotion.
The smallest iPad of 2021 is equipped with an A15 Bionic. This chip can also be found in the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. That chip not only offers much more raw processing power, but is also a lot stronger in terms of graphics.
