Ikea has upgraded its app and is now offering a simpler payment function in furniture stores via “Shop & Go”. Articles are scanned via the app and then paid for at the self-checkout. However, it will take some time before it can be introduced across Germany. We start with five branches.

Ikea app: new “Shop & Go” reduces waiting time

An interesting function has just been added to the Ikea app, which ideally Minimize waiting times at the checkout can. In addition, while shopping, customers get an overview of how much they will have to pay for the item in the end. Ikea speaks of a “more flexible shopping experience”. The app itself was completely redesigned in summer 2021.

The basic idea behind the new “Shop & Go” is that customers get the desired items while shopping Scan articles via the appbefore they end up in the shopping cart. In the app, customers can then see the amount for the item and the current total. Before this, a QR code must be scanned once in the furniture store in order to activate the function.

Do customers have all items together, the Ikea app generates a QR code. This is scanned at one of the self-service checkouts and the payment process can begin. Payment via the app itself is not intended, however. With “Shop & Go”, a conventional Ikea cash register can no longer be used.

You can also make money with Ikea furniture. We explain exactly how this works in the video:
