It hasn’t been that long since we were finally able to install iOS 15, but the first iOS 16 features have since leaked. In addition, a graphic designer shows what this year’s major iPhone update might look like.

iOS 16: new features leaked

The first rumors about iOS 16 are slowly but surely getting underway. On Twitter, the user @AppleA12Z (according to their own admission) access to an early build of iOS 16 and give a first impression. It is important that you take this rumor with a grain of salt, because the anonymous Apple leaker does not have an impressive track record.

1. Access screen is being modified

According to the rumors about the leaked iOS 16 build, the design is being taken care of. The first thing you notice is that Apple uses a different font for the date and time on the Lock screen.

2. App icons get appearance from macOS

Furthermore, the app icons have been adjusted to resemble those of macOS Big Sur and newer. This was originally one of the rumors for iOS 15. It remains to be seen whether Apple will make the change to the app icons this time.

3. Notifications Get More Features in iOS 16

Things will also change with the notifications. Rumor has it that from now on you will receive suggestions in Messages notifications and will be called ‘Siri Reply Suggestions’.

We already know an always on display from the Apple Watch Series 7. The iPhone could get a lock screen in a similar way on which permanent information is visible. Think of an icon with the weather forecast, a clock and other widgets that you can place manually.

Widgets are small apps with different functions that you put on the home screen of your iPhone. The widgets are nice, but there are some limitations. In the concept of iOS 16, you can see that there are several new interactive widgets.

Enhanced Multitasking Features

In iOS 15, Apple has already tinkered with multitasking on your iPhone. According to the video, iOS 16 can go a step further. So you can see that the iPhone has been given a kind of movable dock and that a split-screen function has even appeared.

Which iPhones will get iOS 16?

According to the French website iPhoneSoft the end is near for the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and the first iPhone SE. These smartphones do not receive support for iOS 16 and will therefore probably remain stuck on iOS 15. The iPhone 7 and newer could run on iOS 16.

iOS 16 release: when will the update come?

iOS 16 is likely to be unveiled in the summer of 2022 at WWDC, Apple’s annual software event. The update can then be downloaded a few months later. Normally this coincides with the announcement of new iPhones, but it always remains to be seen what Apple is planning this year.
