new features for AirPods (and this is going to change even more)

iOS 16 is packed with new features, but your AirPods also get a few new features. iPhoned tells you what will change in the near future.

Read on after the ad.

iOS 16: This is going to change for your AirPods

It will be a while before iOS 16 is really released, but we can already tell you that your AirPods will also get new features. Among other things, a new spatial audio function will be added and it will be easier to view and adjust the settings of your AirPods.

AirPods Settings iOS 16

The first thing you notice when using the AirPods on an iPhone with iOS 16 is the settings. If you want to change the settings of the AirPods in iOS 15, you must first go to ‘Settings > Bluetooth’. There you then tap the information icon (the ‘i’ in a circle) to view the settings of the AirPods.

In iOS 16 it is still possible this way, but there is also an easier way for your AirPods. When you tap “Settings” (and your AirPods are connected to your iPhone), you’ll see a new option for your AirPods under your Apple ID. If you tap this, you will immediately see the settings of your earbuds.

Personalized spatial audio

Another new feature is ‘Personalized spatial audio’. You can find this function in the settings of your AirPods. This allows you to tailor the spatial sound even better to your wishes. Your iPhone makes a scan of your ear for this.

The nice thing about this is that the settings are copied to all your Apple devices. So you only have to set it up once. You must make sure that you use the same Apple ID on your devices.

iOS 16: Public beta is already available

Do you already want to get started with iOS 16 and your AirPods? That is possible, because the public beta of iOS 16 can be installed by anyone. In any case, first make a backup of your iPhone and read the article below carefully. There are some snags when you install the beta version of the update.
