New beta WhatsApp Web no longer needs a phone connection
WhatsApp seems to be accelerating the releasing of a connection with the phone, at WhatsApp Web. Now you still need to have your phone nearby if you want to use the desktop or web version of WhatsApp.
WhatsApp Web without a phone
Nice clues have been found in the code of WhatsApp’s latest beta. WhatsApp is working in a beta version of WhatsApp Web on a feature that no longer requires your phone to be nearby if you want to use WhatsApp Web. Now you still need an active internet connection if you want to use WhatsApp Web on your computer or laptop, but that is about to change.
Another thing that will change is that it will be possible to use WhatsApp Web on up to four devices simultaneously. Now that is still a maximum of one, while with Telegram you can use many more devices.
It is not entirely clear how the functionality works. Chats are provided with end-to-end encryption in WhatsApp. Decryption takes place on the smartphone. WhatsApp will undoubtedly have found something for this. Updates should be released in the future that will allow users to delete or mute messages from Web or Desktop, without requiring an active internet connection on the smartphone.
It is not known when the functionality will become available to users. At the moment we have to make do with the screenshots that have been released thanks to WAbetainfo.
