Netflix makes it easier to transfer your data to a new subscription

Netflix has announced the Transfer Profile feature. This allows Netflix subscribers to transfer their (viewing) data to a new account.

Netflix Transfer Profile

Netflix is losing subscribers and is doing everything it can to boost profits again. Last month, the company announced a cheaper plan with advertising. With the new Transfer Profile, the streaming service wants to make it easy for existing subscribers to transfer their data to a new account. Netflix refers, among other things, to couples who split up and used a joint account. Or young people who leave home to move into rooms. The feature ensures that these people can easily transfer their personalized recommendations, watch history, My List, saved games and other settings to a new subscription.

Of course, Transfer Profile will also come in handy if Netflix is going to tackle account sharing. This is currently tolerated, but from the many tests that Netflix is doing, it appears that this is going to come to an end. Recently, Netflix announced a trial where in some countries you can add an extra home to your account for an additional cost and then stream on all devices there. Netflix does not mention this in its announcement.

Transfer Profile is rolling out gradually and subscribers will receive an email from Netflix as soon as the feature is available to them. The function can then be found in your account and can also be turned off there. What do you think of the position? Will you be using it if account sharing is addressed? Let us know in the comments.
