Philips Hue 2021: new lamps and Spotify

Signify will be launching a series of new Philips Hue lamps in the coming months. These smart bulbs, in combination with a Philips Hue Bridge, all support the new standard for the smart home: Matter.

First of all, new ceiling lamps will be added to the Philips Hue range. The rectangular or square Surimu ceiling panel should be useful for a low ceiling. The new Philips Hue Enrave ceiling lamp hangs high or low and in a low position not only directs the light downwards, but also casts indirect light on the ceiling.

The bathroom is also more lively. The Philips Hue Xamento recessed spotlights bring colors to the bathroom for the first time. In addition, the larger Devere ceiling lamp is there for warm to cool white light.

Gradient and Filament

The Gradient line is also being expanded. With these longer lamps, colors blend into each other. For example, a new Gradient Engrave table lamp and floor lamp are released, as well as a Gradient light strip. For Hue Play, to synchronize light with your television, a Gradient Light Tube is added. You can place this under or above a television.

In addition, the Filament bulbs, which give the appearance of seeing the filament on the inside of the bulb, are available with support for different whites. Other colors are not yet possible. A new Filament shape will also be available: the E14 candle lamp.

All standard Hue lamps are now available in three strengths: 800, 1100 and 1600 lumens. More lumens also means a higher price tag.

Spotify and games

Philips Hue has subsequently announced a partnership with Spotify. It becomes possible to synchronize your lamps with your music. This is possible in the Philips Hue app, provided you use the Philips Hue Bridge.

As of today, this feature can be activated in early access. After October, this feature will become a permanent part of the Philips Hue app. You don’t need a Premium subscription for that.

The Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box will also receive an update in the fall. It will then be possible to play games with a refresh rate of 120Hz, with a resolution of 1080p and 1440p. If you want to game in 4K, a refresh rate of 60Hz can also be switched on.

Prices and dates

From now on, the Filament lamps with White Ambiance are for sale, just like the standard lamps in 800, 1100 and 1600 lumens. The new Filament candle lamp is also available from today. As of today, the bathroom can also be expanded with the Xamento recessed spotlights (3 for 199.99 euros).
