Netflix Loses Nearly a Million Subscribers

For the time being, Netflix has not managed to turn the tide, the service has almost a million fewer subscribers.

With this nice weather outside, watching Netflix is not the highest priority. But that’s not the only reason that the American streaming service is having a harder time with it. The stretch is a bit off in terms of growth. Increasing competition from, among others, Disney and Amazon is of course also an important factor.

Netflix subscribers

For the second quarter in a row, Netflix has lost subscribers, nearly a million to be exact. The American streaming service had to watch as the number of subscribers fell by 970,000 in the second quarter of 2022. It is the first time in Netflix history that so many subscribers leave the service in a quarter.

Investors are not surprised by the news. The first quarter did not look good. Then Netflix was severely punished with a price drop of more than 20 percent. Now that’s okay. Also because the American company has indicated that it wants to turn the tide later this year. Think of advertising, new subscription forms and tackling partial accounts.

These measures should ensure that the service will grow again in the longer term. Investors are confident that the American streaming service will indeed achieve this.
