Netflix comes with gamertags – Apparata
The streaming service Netflix is increasingly focusing on gaming, now the company comes with gamertags.
Netflix has been under fire for some time, partly because the company is not performing as well as before. Shareholders don’t like that. Therefore, the company is developing several new features to stay ahead of the competition. Now it comes with gamertags.
The gaming industry is big and because of this there is a lot of money to be made. That is why you see that Netflix is paying more and more attention to this. Now the company is testing a feature with tags that users can create and display publicly when playing on a selection of mobile games. Here Came Mobile Developer Steve Moser (via TechCrunch) first. This should allow members to identify and invite other users to play games based on their handles, and see where they rank in the rankings.
The tag, the name, must be unique. Netflix will immediately automatically check if this is the case. When created, it will say “Your game handle is a unique public name for playing games on Netflix”. Your profile icon and name are not visible to other players. You can always change your gamertag.
Innovation
Netflix itself says it started with select titles last month. These include Into the Breach, Bowling Ballers, Heads Up! and Mahjong Solitaire. No doubt more games will follow.
“We are always looking to improve our members’ experience with the service and are exploring various features to enrich the Netflix mobile game experience,” added company spokesperson Hidaka. Gaming within Netflix does not go very smoothly. Research shows that 1 percent of all subscribers occasionally play a game on the platform.
