‘My son (9) sleeps in bed with us every night and I love it’

Some parents don’t want to think about it, but Kate Auletta enjoys it while she can: co-sleeping with her son (9). And she takes for granted that she hasn’t been sleeping well for years.
No, Kate wasn’t going to sleep with her sons (6 and 9) in one bed for that long, but that’s just the way it was. And yes, her children each have their own bed. “But at some point they found our bed, and that’s where they stayed.”
Son sleeps in the big bed
Her 6-year-old son only crawls into The Big Bed when he wakes up in the middle of the night. Unlike his brother, who has been sleeping next to Kate every night for two years now. “During the corona pandemic, his fears did not diminish. He loves his own bed and bedroom, but just prefers to share a bed with us.” And Kate also gets something in return. “During the day he never gives me hugs, but in bed all the more. And it’s nice to have your oldest child close from time to time.”

Time flies
Kate cherishes the intimate moments with her son as the years fly by. The other day he put on his headphones in the car, so he couldn’t hear us anymore. I understood him, but it was a shame that he didn’t sing along with the rest of the family as usual.” So it’s nice that he crawls into bed with her every night. “No, I haven’t slept in years. And yes, my back is wrinkled when I wake up, and I sometimes fall half out of bed. But I also know that these are the moments I will remember later. I love waking up next to him and will continue to do so until he no longer needs it.”
