‘My mother-in-law refuses to call our son by his real name’

“Even before my wife and I wanted to have children, my mother-in-law called out that she wanted us to name her grandchild after her father Sherman,” he writes. “An old-fashioned name that I didn’t like at all, so when my partner turned out to be pregnant a few years later, we immediately deleted it from our list of names.”

‘Sherm’
The two named their son Alexander – one they both liked. And yet the Reddit’s mother-in-law kept calling her grandchild Sherman. She even said ‘Sherm’ or ‘Lil Sherm lately. The first ten times I let it go. The following times it started to irritate me and I jokingly asked if she wanted to call him Alexander. When she still refused and a conversation with her daughter (my partner) did not work, I dismissed her. ‘
‘Never welcome again’
The anonymous father is still fed up with it. “I think it’s disrespectful to Alex and me that she keeps calling him by the wrong name. So if she doesn’t stop doing that, she’ll never be home here again. ‘
