“My children bathe every day. So what?’

Should a child take a bath or shower every day? Many skin experts advise against it, but Hampton Williams Hofer doesn’t care. Her children bathe every day. ‘So what?’

Unlike Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher and Kristen Bell, who only bathe their kids when they’re dirty, Hampton bathes her offspring every day. “I know bathing isn’t cool. It’s not good for the planet, for your skin and hair. I get that. But in this house, especially with small children, we are bath lovers,” she says.

Kids take a bath every day

The everyday bathroom moment doesn’t always look the same. “Sometimes the kids splash about for half an hour with diving masks and toy dinosaurs, sometimes it’s just wash, rinse and that’s it,” she continues. Whether long or short: her children always take a bath. And that has everything to do with routines. “Once they’ve had a bath, we won’t go outside, finish that Play Doh piece of art, and certainly don’t start a puzzle.” It is the ideal activity to get her kids tired before bedtime.

In short: her children bathe not only to get clean, but also to get a good night’s sleep. And, admits Hampton, nothing beats a squeaky-clean face. “I’ve yet to find a better smell than a washed baby, and a better feeling than a towel-wrapped toddler in my arms.”
