Musk gives Twitter much-requested feature (and it’s completely free)
Now that Elon Musk has finally taken over Twitter, one of the most requested features finally seems to be coming to the platform for everyone: with an edit button you can edit tweets in the future even after posting.

Much to the chagrin of many, tweets can no longer be edited once they are online. Musk previously polled his Twitter followers what they think about adding an edit button for everyone, with more than 70 percent voting for ‘yse’ (if only they had edited the poll afterwards). Previously, the edit button was only available to Twitter Blue subscribers and also only in a few countries. With Musk now as Twitter chief, it seems only a matter of time before the edit button comes to all users.
Editing can take up to thirty minutes
Incidentally, a tweet cannot be modified indefinitely with an edit button. The new feature gives every user the chance to change the message up to 30 minutes after posting the tweet. The tweet is then provided with a label, which allows users to see that the tweet has been modified. In addition, the edit history of the tweet remains visible, with the previous versions of the tweet still visible for all to see.
Free and for everyone
The edit button on Twitter appears to be becoming free and available to everyone. Currently, only users with a Twitter Blue subscription in the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia can edit a posted tweet. So this feature will be extended to the free version of Twitter. It is still unclear whether this update will also come to the Netherlands and Belgium, but it seems that this is a worldwide update of Twitter.
New features since the acquisition
Another change Musk has mentioned is making the familiar verification symbol available for a fee. Now users can submit a verification request to Twitter to get the blue tick next to their username, but in the future this should be available to everyone for $8 a month. In addition, you should also see fewer advertisements with this subscription.
New alternative: Mastodon
At the end of October, Musk finally took over Twitter. It should be clear by now that this acquisition is accompanied by major changes for the platform. Musk fired the top of the company immediately after his acquisition. It is still unclear what Twitter will actually look like in the near future, Musk has big plans in any case. After all, the Twitter bird has only just been released, as Musk himself says. In any case, many Twitter users are not waiting for these changes and seem to be switching to Mastodon, the alternative to Twitter.
