Motorola is coming soon with a new, foldable Moto Razr

Motorola has a new foldable phone in the works. It is about the Moto Razr, a smartphone that looks different and would perform better than previous Moto Razr’s.

When you think of flip phones from the old days, chances are you picture the Motorola Pebble: the black phone that opened like an oyster. In terms of technical specifications, it was not a pearl in all areas, but it was in terms of design. Motorola has now made folding phones a trend again and has already made a run for new success with the foldable Motorola Razr. It was unveiled in 2019, with the Motorola Razr 5G in 2020 and now a third generation is coming.

Motorola, however, no longer has the exclusive right to the flip phone. Not even at the time of the Pebble: then Samsung came up with the E530, for example, which was also a telephone that could be opened like a make-up box. Even now, Samsung is the main competitor, because the Galaxy Z Flip 5G is one of the most popular foldable phones, partly due to its price that is lower than that of most foldable smartphones.

Lenovo CEO Chen Jin spoke to Weibo about the new foldable Motorola Razr. He talks about a modified user interface, a better design and improved performance. The main question is whether Motorola can match or stay ahead of Samsung in performance, because although Motorola has shown a great design in the past, it has happened more than once that its devices offer disappointing options that are not high-end enough for the price of the device.

In addition, Oppo has now also announced a foldable device called Oppo Find N. So it was certainly not a temporary trend, those foldable phones. Especially now that they are also available in prices below 1000 euros, it is expected that we will see them more in the streets. On the other hand, it still depends on their ability and not just on their design. So it remains to be seen what Motorola will come up with and especially when. The device will probably be the first to appear in China.
