Moto Edge 30 Ultra gets next-gen stylus
Motorola is rumored to be working on a new generation stylus that comes with many features. This stylus can be stored in a specially designed Folio Case.
Motorola’s version of the S Pen
It is mainly Samsung that is known for the stylus, or the S Pen, as the manufacturer calls the accessory. What many may not know is that Motorola is already on the stylus field. Think of the Moto G Pro from 2020. Rumors about a new Motorola with stylus are getting stronger. For example, we recently saw this patent in which Motorola described a phone with a wrap-around display. This also includes the stylus, which is of course a suitable accessory for such a large screen.
Now, new details are emerging of a stylus that would work with Motorola Edge 30 Ultra. It concerns designs of the Motorola Smart Stylus. In addition, drawings of a folio case have surfaced, via XDA.
First, let’s look at the Motorola Smart Stylus. This stylus that connects to the smartphone via Bluetooth, and it supports both air gestures, known from the Galaxy Note. In addition, the accessory can be charged wirelessly. You can also control an external display with the Smart Stylus and the button supports media control. Finally, the stylus can be used for writing.
This is probably going to be a completely different stylus than the one in the yet to be announced Motorola Moto G Stylus (2022). According to the source, we should see this stylus as a ‘next-gen’ stylus, referring to its extensive capabilities. It seems that this stylus is more like the stylus available for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Motorola Edge 30 Ultra Folio Case
Then there are also sketches of the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra Folio Case surfaced. As you can see, the stylus fits in the pocket on the back and the phone knows when the stylus is removed, or when it has not been used for a long time. You can also select an app that will launch automatically when you remove the stylus from the case and also automatically turn on Bluetooth. The stylus then charges wirelessly in the case.
The case also works with the phone. The case has an open strip on the front in the center over the display, where the Always On display can be shown. With incoming calls you can answer or reject them via that strip without having to open the cover. It is unclear whether there are currently other options for the case, or whether independent developers can also use it.
It is unknown whether these accessories will be launched together with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra. In any case, the stylus is the most advanced stylus we’ve ever seen from Motorola, so we hope to see the accessory soon. We look forward to the launch of both, especially the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra.
