No less than 68 percent of Androidworld readers share their smartphone password with their partner. They and therefore their smartphone should not be a secret for their partner. However, there are also people who think differently: 12 percent of couples hide the PIN from each other.
Access to your partners phone
Dendroid knows his PIN code partner all too well: “Well, I set that myself since I have to set the devices here 😅.” Effe knows that feeling: “She tells me every time I need help with her phone, but I keep forgetting.” Dirk-Jan is also clearly someone who shares passwords with his partner. “Yep, nothing to hide!”
There are also people who know their partner’s, but he or she does not know theirs: 10 percent of the readers indicate this. The other way around, so that the partner does know, only occurs in 5 percent of the cases, it turns out. 6 percent of the respondents indicate that they do not have a partner: that saves another point of discussion. It is quite annoying if one is very pro-sharing and the other is a bit more fond of his or her privacy. On the other hand, there are also many readers who indicate that they know each other’s PIN codes, but that they never use them: a matter of trust.
Still practical
That can be useful, according to reader gabriel_knight. He did not have the pin code, but could enter the device with the fingerprint. That turned out to be very nice: “When my partner died suddenly, I had a big problem. I could get in with my fingerprint, but a little later I needed his PIN code. Good luck guessing his PIN code. At least he could contact his friends to come to the funeral.”

Nevertheless, it remains up to you to stand for what you like. There are pros and there are cons. Not wanting to share your access really doesn’t mean you’re secretly Whatsapping with your lover on your smartphone. Of course you just use your work phone for that.
