Last year, Apple sold 16 percent more refurbished iPhones than in 2021. Of the worldwide total number of refurbished devices sold, no less than 49 percent was an iPhone last year. Samsung is in second place with a share of 26 percent. Refurbished iPhones are therefore more popular than ever, but how much do you currently pay for such an iPhone with renewed parts?

The high sales of refurbished iPhones means both good and bad news for Apple. Because many people decide to buy a refurbished iPhone, fewer new iPhones are sold. In addition, Apple only sells a select number of refurbished iPhones: only the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 13 series are refurbished for sale at Apple.

Other Apple providers often have a wider range of refurbished iPhones and ask for a lower price. As a result, Apple will miss out on a lot of revenue if more people decide to buy refurbished iPhones. The advantage is that these people will also use the App Store and, for example, iCloud Plus, so that Apple still earns money from the new iPhone users.
