Morbius: trailer teases connection with Spider-Man and Marvel

A new trailer arrived for the movie Morbius with Jared Leto in the lead role. She teases ties with Spider-Man and the Marvel Universe more generally.

Morbius is entitled to a new trailer

Sony’s new Spider-Man universe superhero film follows Michael Morbius (Jared Leto), a biochemist in search of a cure for his rare blood disorder. After accidentally injecting himself with vampirism, Morbius is given bat-like powers like echolocation, flight, and an insatiable thirst for blood.

In the trailer, Morbius travels to a mysterious island to cure his illness, but he disappears for two months and returns with vampire powers. There are ties to other Sony films as well, including a cameo by Michael Keaton, who played the vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and an allusion to Venom. The villainous symbiote, played by Tom Hardy, announced a crossover in the post-credits scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

Adria Arjona stars alongside Jared Leto as the villain’s fiancée, Martine Bancroft. Jared Harris, Matt Smith and Tyrese Gibson round out the cast. Matt Smith will play Loxias Crown, a man with the same blood disease as Morbius. Jared Harris, whose character remains anonymous, will play Morbius’ mentor.

Morbius will be released in theaters on January 26, 2022.
