Meta and Qualcomm team up for Metaverse

Qualcomm and Meta announced yesterday on the sidelines of theIFA that they would henceforth collaborate in the construction of a “multigenerational” Metaverse. This multi-year agreement has as its main objective to provide experiences premium for the future Metavers, despite the still very vague aspect of the concept. Cristiano Amonpresident and head of Qualcomm Incorporated, displays the general ambitions of the agreement: By partnering with Meta, we are bringing together two of the world’s leaders in the metaverse to revolutionize the future of computing for billions of people in the years to come.”

In detail, this also means that Meta will equip its next mixed reality headsets with processors Snapdragon XR, which practically puts an end to the rumors of a “house” processor designed by Meta. On the other hand, Meta will participate with Qualcomm in the design of dedicated processors for mixed reality, so as to have components tailored to its needs. “These chips will help us push the boundaries of virtual reality and deliver incredible experiences” thus clarified mark zuckerberg.
