‘Behind the scenes they don’t like that you have to leave every two hours to feed your baby. Not to mention the pressure you feel as a mother to go back to work. I had to show up as a guest on a TV show right after I gave birth. Guilt
For many women it is tough to pick up the thread after their leave. That doesn’t change if you make millions, explains Megan. ‘You are supposed to be working on your recovery after the birth. And feed your baby and bond with him. But meanwhile, you feel the thrill of going back to work. I myself was also struggling with acne from my pregnancy and I rushed to dermatologists to fix it, so that I could appear in front of the camera again.’
As an actress, you don’t want to pass up the opportunity for a new job, she says. ‘That feels very double. And if you actually go back to work too soon, you feel guilty towards your child afterwards and you think: I shouldn’t have started again so soon.’
