‘The children of the chairman are classified first’

The selection team has to start somewhere. But if by chance the children of the chairman are placed first, can you speak of favoritism?

Annabelle (42), mother of daughters Sophie (14) and Emma (11):

“Call me naive, but I never expected that such political games would be fought over the backs of children. With our youngest daughter it could still be a coincidence. She can play hockey, but is not a top talent. It was a pity but justifiable that Emma did not end up in the selection team and her girlfriends did. But Sophie has real talent. We’ve been hearing it from parents, trainers, coaches for years.

Classified first

At the start of the new season, she was suddenly placed two teams lower. Coincidentally, the two daughters of the chairman, that of the treasurer and the daughter of the coach herself were placed in the first. Incomprehensible. Especially for Sophie herself. She was very disappointed. The second class in which she now plays is clearly far below her level.

“Switching is not an option. And who says that the same thing does not happen at another association?”

I supported Sophie, admitted that I found it strange too and used it as a learning opportunity: make the best of it, because life isn’t always fair. You will not find another club in the area, so switching is not an option. And who’s to say that the same doesn’t happen at another association?

I find it bizarre that it is done so openly. They even put one of the chairman’s daughters on target, she couldn’t handle the level conditionally. Then you want to scream: exchange her for my daughter! But you don’t. Otherwise you will be completely out of favor. We hope for better luck next season.”
