Malicious DigiD text messages are going around about restitution

A new form of phishing is circulating in which the suspicion is raised that you are receiving a text message from DigiD. It is a refund that you can request back.

DigiD SMS refund

A new SMS is going around in the Netherlands. Something that is certainly not pure coffee. Last year there were already text messages sent in the name of DigiD. This was about the digital key of DigiD that you supposedly had to activate. Now it’s about a refund that you can request.

In our case, it was a message that came from a German telephone number. It was the phone number +491634595023. It is not inconceivable that the message also circulates from other numbers. The text in the SMS is as follows;

[DIGID]: You will receive another refund of EUR 817.38. Request your refund now via: ** link **.

When you click on the link, you will be redirected to a rogue website, where personal information will be requested. Definitely don’t fall for this, this is not true. It is best to delete the text message immediately. DigiD does not send such text messages and certainly not with such a link for the so-called refund.
