Volkswagen has presented a major update for its ID.Software. The list of changes is long: In addition to a faster interface, e-car drivers can look forward to improved voice control, among other things. Even the charging performance sometimes jumps up.

Volkswagen: Update to ID.Software 3.0 presented

Owners of a VW ID.3, ID.4 and ID.5 can look forward to updated car software. Volkswagen has worked hard and implemented a whole range of improvements that will have a noticeable impact on driving in an electric car. That applies to all vehicles with a 77 kWh battery with the ID.Software 3.0 the charging capacity has been increased. While 125 kW used to be the limit, the battery can also be charged with up to 135 kW after installation.

In addition, VW has the Operation by voice taken care of, which should now run more smoothly. According to the manufacturer, the software interface is now significantly faster overall. This is also noticeable in the integrated route planner, in which the remaining ranges at stopovers and at the destination can be individually defined (source: VW).

Newer models with appropriate sensors receive the travel assistant, which relies on swarm intelligence. If the appropriate assistance system is activated, the e-car communicates with other VWs to shape the road. The previous orientation on the central reservation is no longer necessary, instead the right lane is the destination. With sensors for radar and ultrasound, the automated lane change is activated from a speed of 90 km/h without further action. The head-up display also has new displays.

VW: Software update expands Park Assist Plus

Newer VWs also get one improved Park Assist Plus. The parking aid can no longer only steer, but also accelerate itself. The assistant can now also save the last 50 meters to the parking space and call it up again at a later point in time in order to speed up parking.

According to Volkswagen, the extensive software update will be distributed free of charge over the air for ID.3, ID.4 and ID.5. customers can in April 2022 with the ID.Software 3.0.
