MacOS Monterey apps coming soon to the Mac App Store
Here’s what Apple is telling developers:
macOS Monterey offers powerful features and technologies that help you deliver high user experiences. Take advantage of SwiftUI, new and improved APIs for applications built with Mac Catalyst, an unrivaled suite of advanced debugging tools for the GPU and new features for Metal, the power of Shortcuts on Mac, the new API integrated purchasing with StoreKit and ShazamKit.
Developers who want to take full advantage of the performance of Macs with M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max chips should use Xcode 13.1, Apple announces. They can also create a universal application, that is to say that it works just as well on Intel Macs as on Apple Silicon Macs.
At the same time, Apple invite developers to optimize their applications for the new MacBook Pro screen with the M1 Pro or M1 Max chip in view of the notch:
If your app offers a full screen experience and uses the default system menus, macOS Monterey automatically takes the area around the camera into account. If your app offers a personalized fullscreen experience or has content on the menu bar, you may need to make some adjustments to deliver the best possible experience on this amazing new screen.
