macOS 12.1 corrects the “Touch to click” bug with the trackpad
The fourth beta of macOS 12.1, available since yesterday, corrects an annoying bug with the trackpad. The “Touch to click” gesture no longer worked, without really knowing why. The new update corrects just this problem.
Fixed a bug with the trackpad on macOS Monterey
The bug with the “Touch to click” gesture appeared with macOS Monterey, available since October 25th. Users have noted that nothing happens when they touch the trackpad for macOS to record the action of a click. This affected both MacBook M1 and Intel Macs using the Magic Trackpad.
Today, users who installed the fourth beta of macOS 12.1 testified on Reddit and elsewhere to let people know that the “Touch to click” gesture bug was no longer relevant. Just touching your trackpad is enough, the functionality works as expected. To activate this gesture, go to System Preferences> Point and click and check the corresponding box.
Apple is not yet saying when exactly the final version of macOS 12.1 will be available for download, other than that it will be before the end of the year. We must therefore expect availability within the next few days… if the deadline is respected.
