Longest drone flight in Europe departs from the Netherlands
Most drones can hang in the air for half an hour. How different is this operation, to realize the longest drone flight in Europe.
This is not a question of flying for half an hour, but an hour-long journey through several countries. A multi-faceted challenge. Think of weather conditions, but the batteries of the drone itself must also last. In total, this concerns a distance of 750 kilometers that the drone has to cover.
Longest drone flight in Europe
The expedition was set up by engineering and consultancy firm Antea Group. The flight departs from Oranjewoud in the province of Friesland, through Germany, with the final destination Copenhagen, Denmark. With the promotion, the company wants to show what drones are capable of.
It is not yet known when the flight will take place. The preparations are in full swing. For example, permission is needed because three national airspaces will be flown. In the best case scenario, the longest drone flight in Europe could be realized this autumn.
The Antea Group is specialized in drone technology. Among other things, the company uses drones to closely monitor traffic situations. The company is part of the Dutch Drone Delta. Schiphol, KLM, Rijkswaterstaat, Port of Rotterdam and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management are also part of this.
