LEDs from Nothing Phone (2) sometimes have their own energy supply

The LEDs on the back of the Nothing Phone (2) are one of his biggest and most striking gimmicks. It’s not for nothing that we devoted an entire article to it, that ‘glyph’. JerryRigEverything, the channel on which phones often go completely to the galleries to see how robust they are, has a lot of attention for it in his ‘teardown’. Although that is not entirely for nothing: the LEDs sometimes even have their own energy supply.

Leds on the Nothing Phone (2)

In an earlier video, he already showed that the phone is very robust, but what about those LEDs? There are 11 LEDs, divided into 33 light zones. These are necessary, among other things, to use the timer with which you can see the time counting down on one of the lights, for example when you are waiting for your Uber. JerryRigEverything previously counted all the LEDs on the back of the Nothing Phone (1), there were 971 that are mainly placed next to each other in pairs.

Now he has not counted again, but they have again been placed next to each other in sets. They are hidden under white stickers to make it all look a bit nicer and to weaken the 6,000 to 7,000 Kelvin light boxes to 5,000 Kelvin. This way the color also becomes a bit more like daylight, instead of becoming a bit too blue. Some LED strips even have their own power supply, including the most important: that ‘counter’, because it has no fewer than 16 zones of light.

Furthermore, you don’t see any earth-shattering things in the YouTube video, but it’s just nice to see what that phone looks like inside: that’s pretty neat. If you want to know more about the second phone from the Nothing brand, read our rather favorable review of this premium device.

Are you impressed by those LEDs, or do they not bother you? Leave it in the comments.
