Kojima Productions ventures into film and television -apkrig

Japanese studio Kojima Productions opens a new film, television and music division in Los Angeles. GamesIndustry.biz was the first magazine to provide information. The goal of the branch is to transfer the team’s brands to other areas of pop culture. The team will be led by Riley Russell, who previously worked at Sony for almost 28 years. His job is to raise general awareness of the games the studio is working on. They want to work with the best in the relevant fields of the entertainment industry.

Jochiko Fukuda of Kojima Productions said they would look for other ways to engage fans. According to him, the new division will take the team to other areas where they can demonstrate their creativity beyond video games. Of course, the founder of the studio, Hideo Kojima, makes no secret of his lifelong seriousness for film and television. It would not be a surprise if he expanded his ambitions in this field as well. And given its perfectionism, it certainly makes more sense for the company to monitor possible adaptations itself, similar to Sony through PlayStation Productions.

A co Metal Gear?

Hideo Kojima has conceived each of his plays over the past quarter century as a bit of a film, and no one would be surprised if he made his own film once. In particular, Death Stranding would not get lost on the silver screen either. Unfortunately, he will intervene in the postponed film adaptation of Metal Gear as informally as possible, because Konami owns the brand rights.

Metal Gear has been announced several times. For the first time in 2006 and premiered in 2011. It was speculated that the main role could be played by Hugh Jackman or Christian Bale. The project went on ice in 2010. Plans resumed in 2012. The project was later undertaken by director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. However, the script was rewritten repeatedly. Oscar Isaac, for example, was interested in the role of Snake, who actually got it in December 2020.
