It’s dangerous to switch to an iPhone

Research firm CIRP (Consumer Intelligence Research Partners) regularly conducts surveys and comparisons between iOS and Android. For example, it recently appeared that of the number of people who buy a new iPhone in America, no less than 15 percent comes from an Android. About 53 percent of those switching did this because of a bad experience with Android.

CIRP now comes with a new research result, again conducted in America. This shows that it is quite ‘dangerous’ to switch to an iPhone.

From an Android to an iPhone

Of all Android users, 4 percent switched from the iPhone, but 10 percent of all iPhone users switched from an Android. CIRP’s research also shows that relatively few people switch operating systems.

Familiarity and especially fear of problems when switching ensure that more than 90 percent of all smartphone owners stick to the same operating system when they buy a new smartphone.

CIRP’s research data on customer loyalty also confirms the stronger appeal of the iPhone. It shows that 94 percent of existing customers who bought an iPhone chose an iPhone again the next time. Loyalty at Android is 91 percent, so 3 percent lower.

Be warned

So why is it dangerous to switch to an iPhone then? Well, once you’ve switched to an iPhone, chances are you’ll never switch to another smartphone again! So be warned and think before you leap!

CIRP emphasizes that both scores are impressive percentages of customer loyalty, “but there can only be one winner – and the iPhone is more than a foot ahead.”
