It Takes Two will see its own film adaptation -apkrig

Hazelight developers have announced a partnership with production company dj2 Entertainment, which will result in a film adaptation of the successful game It Takes Two. Variety magazine informs about the connection, which brings the first details together with the statements of individual creators. The potentially most interesting is the fact that dj2 is behind the film Sonic the Hedgehog and its upcoming sequel, and its screenwriters could join the new project. According to Variety, the duo Pat Casey and Josh Miller are the ones who will really take care of It Takes Two in terms of the script, but the events surrounding the film adaptations of the games are so turbulent that we would not pay too much weight to it at least for now.

Towards Fares and his team, dj2 brings a lot of compliments for the game, which during 2021 won a number of awards and reached the title of the game of the year at The Game Awards.

“Creating the world and the story in It Takes Two was a lot of fun for me and the whole team,” says Hazelight studio founder and creative boss Josef Fares. According to him, a strong story, crazy characters and many action moments are great material for film adaptation and connection with dj2 Entertainment is naturally very happy. Towards Fares and his team, dj2 brings a lot of compliments for the game, which during 2021 won a number of awards and reached the title of the game of the year at The Game Awards. “Like the rest of the game world, we fell head over heels in love with Cody, May, Rose, Dr. Hakim and this imaginative fantasy world,” dj2 CEO Dmitri M. Johnson lists the main attributes of It Takes Two and potentially its filming. “We can’t wait to bring these characters and the world to life on both the big and small screens,” Johnson said.

Beyond the names of potential screenwriters, however, we do not currently know either the studio that should make the film or the scope or estimated date of the premiere. According to Variety, the negotiations are just beginning and it may take several years for us to see a result. After all, dj2 is currently working on several game-film projects, which, in addition to Sonic’s sequels, include the animated Tomb Raider for Netflix or films based on Disco Elysium and Sleeping Dogs. However, the great popularity of the game and the warm welcome, which is still a living memory in the minds of the players, add to the accelerated shooting of It Takes Two and the chance to get the upper hand.
