‘It doesn’t immediately make them alcoholics in the making’

DubbelFrisss comes with the flavors Pornstar Martini and Strawberry Mojito. Only, should there be children’s soda in a cocktail flavor? We posted a statement about it on social media and share a small selection of the many reactions.

Jennifer thinks the fuss is nonsense and responds with: ‘It’s a good thing that children are only allowed to bring water to school these days 😉 #buzz.’ Renate also thinks the reactions are a bit overwrought: ‘I don’t think the name pornstar fits a drink that children also drink. But otherwise, like those kids know it’s a cocktail name! They just like it. And by the way, DubbelFrisss is the first not with cocktail names for their non-alcoholic drinks. Teisseir already has them too! Kids just like it and I think it barely comes close to the alcoholic version in terms of taste.’

Alcoholics in the making

Joyce also thinks the fuss is exaggerated: ‘What nonsense. A child doesn’t know those flavors anyway, doesn’t associate them with a cocktail. And if they do, they like to drink a cocktail, just like mom and dad. Moreover, it contains no alcohol. If we drink wine with dinner, the children also want lemonade in a wine glass. They find it fun and cozy. It doesn’t immediately make them alcoholics in the making.’

Cindy thinks that the responsibility lies with the parents: ‘Nonsense… DubbelFrisss isn’t a children’s drink, is it?! It’s for everyone. As a parent you have to pay attention to that yourself. You don’t have to bring it home.’ Erik also thinks it is part of education: ‘DubbelFrisss is not a children’s drink and people shouldn’t complain like that. You can also educate your child instead of removing all possible disturbing influences.’

Cozy alternative

Caroline seems like it, she writes: ‘I’m curious! Sounds good to me and I’m really not a baby anymore. So far my son only likes the ‘normal’ purple DubbelFrisss. Hope he also likes this new taste, at least we can vary.’ Lisa responds: ‘Aaah how nice! My daughter sometimes drinks a mocktail and this is a cheap and fun alternative for a party or something like that!’

Angelique also likes it, but for herself. She writes: ‘Good publicity stunt. It’s sold out everywhere. As a pregnant woman, I would like a nice non-alcoholic cocktail. And indeed it is not a children’s soft drink, it is just as good for adults. And don’t forget the grandparents!’ Another parent responds with: ‘That’s nice! Can those (like me) who don’t drink alcohol, also pour something nice in a nice glass. Let’s just hope it tastes good too.’
