Is the Xiaomi 13 Ultra good in photos? Here is what DXOMARK has to say

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra, the Chinese manufacturer’s most premium smartphone for 2023, ranked only 14the place on the DXOMARK photo test. It’s worse than an iPhone 13 Pro.

While the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will only be released in France on June 12, DXOMARK experts have already been able to test the smartphone’s photo capabilities in detail. When it was released in China, the manufacturer had insisted on the extraordinary photo performance of the device, in particular thanks to state-of-the-art photo sensors and a partnership with the specialist Leica.

However, the smartphone ultimately did not impress DXOMARK, since this one only positioned itself at the 14e photo ranking place with 140 points. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra therefore does less well than the iPhone 13 Pro and its 141 points, and even less well than the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, which was however released in 2021.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra doesn’t do much better than the Xiaomi 13 Pro

With 140 points, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is at the same level as the Pixel 7 or the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Despite a reworked photo part, the flagship does not get only 4 more points compared to the Xiaomi 13 Pro, released earlier this year. Unfortunately, the device failed to achieve a record in any of the categories tested by DXOMARK.

The experts have noted a few flaws, including a problem with white balance and exposure transition sometimes visible in videos, segmentation errors sometimes visible in bokeh or even oversaturated colors outdoors.

However, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is not a bad smartphone, however. When reading the full test, experts regularly compliment the performance of the camera. It offers a very homogeneous image quality over the entire zoom range, a pleasant and neutral white balance in photo and video or even a good exposure of faces, even in very dark night shots.

If you are looking for the best smartphone in photos, the first place in the DXOMARK ranking is still occupied by the Huawei P60 Pro, which we were able to test. It now remains to be seen at what price the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will arrive in France.
