Patience is a virtue, they say. According to the saying, iPhone users must be particularly virtuous these days. Because an ingenious feature for WhatsApp is still a long way off for some owners of the cult cell phone. The technology is even based on a function that Apple introduced with iOS 16.

iOS 16 is another major update for iPhone owners. Apple has given its iPhone operating system many smaller and larger innovations. One of them stands out in particular: the object exemption. Objects in photos can be cut out with just a tap of the finger – completely automatically and without complicated handling with Photoshop or other image editing programs. WhatsApp is now using this feature as well.

WhatsApp: Some iPhone users still have to wait for the sticker function

In version 23.3.77 for the iPhone, individual stickers can be created and shared with contacts (source: WABetainfo). To do this, the popular messenger uses the clipping function that Apple introduced with iOS 16. Exposed objects can be shared as stickers in WhatsApp. To do this, simply open the Photos app and briefly tap on the object that is to be cropped until it flashes white. The motif can then be shared as a sticker in WhatsApp – at least that’s the theory.

In practice, the function does not seem to be available for some iPhone users, despite the current WhatsApp version and compatible iPhone (all iPhones with an A12 chip or newer). We couldn’t get the feature to work on our test device either. Probably WhatsApp only gradually unlocks the sticker function.
