iPhone 15 Pro leak reveals merged volume and silence button

Some changes are so obvious that you wonder: why not sooner. From this iPhone 15 Pro leak, Apple seems to have definitively left the era of disruptive innovation.

iPhone 15 Pro leaked images from China

Earlier rumors seem to be confirmed with new leaked images of the iPhone 15 Pro iPhone 15 Pro Max. According to leaked CAD images on Douyin (the Chinese version of Tiktok), the separate buttons for volume up and volume down will be replaced by a single, extended button as already seen on many Android devices. Also, the slider, with which the iPhone can be silenced, is replaced by a silence button.

No more push buttons with switch

Both the volume button and the silence button will, if the rumors are correct, be replaced by the so-called solid state design. This means that there is no longer a switch behind it, but a pressure-sensitive piece of electronics. The big advantage of this is that there are far fewer cracks in the smartphone and that it is therefore much less sensitive to water, dust and dirt.

With the help of haptic feedback, vibrations, you as a user still get the feeling that there is a real push button. The standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15+ are expected to continue to feature two separate toggle volume buttons and a mute switch. This shows other images in the leaked videounfortunately only in Mandarin Chinese.

Thinner bezels according to iPhone 15 Pro leak

Another small change is that both Pro models will have thinner bezels around the screen and that the Dynamic Island will now also make an appearance in the standard iPhone 15 models. In short: not very spectacular changes in terms of design, if these leaks are based on truth.

More economical and more powerful chipset; USB-C

More interestingly, the phones will be equipped with slightly faster and more efficient 3nm chipsets (15% faster and 30% more efficient), which means that the battery can last longer. The relatively short battery life and long charging time is a well-known frustration of Apple users. So good news. Apple is likely to switch completely to USB-C for these new models, a legal obligation from the EU in 2024, thinks Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Prices probably a hundred to two hundred dollars higher

Furthermore, what the likely prices of the iPhone family have been leaked, at least in the US. These will, according to leakers, be around $ 200 higher in the US than the current iPhone 14 series. The question is whether Apple will get away with this. If Apple raises prices too much, given the sharply increased cost of living and lagging salaries, many Apple users will wait another year before buying a new device.
