iPhone mini: very much in demand, or not at all?
If you hold the first iPhone from 2007 in your hand, you may wonder: did I get that much bigger, or was that phone really that small all along? 3.5 inches was the size of the screen, and it remained that way until the iPhone 5 that appeared in 2012. Then we got two models with a 4-inch screen (5 and 5s), then – in 2014 – the phone grew again to the well-known iPhone SE 2022 format. Then it took until 2020 before there was another smaller, new phone.
The iPhone 12 mini and 13 mini were Apple’s smallest phones since the iPhone 5s. There seemed to be a lot of demand for this beforehand, but eventually people went for the larger variants. Now there is no iPhone 14 mini, but does the demand for it seem higher than ever? Will there ever be another iPhone mini?
No mention of iPhone mini in leaked roadmap
Based on a leaked roadmap by Ross Young, we already know roughly what we can expect for the future iPhones in terms of display. But is there also an iPhone 15, 16 or 17 mini?
You probably guessed it, but no. And that is conscious, confirms Ross Young in a tweet in response to a specific question. There are no plans to release another mini iPhone. Shame.
So our advice if you really want a smaller iPhone: go for the iPhone 13 mini now. It is relatively cheap to get, is hardly inferior to an iPhone 14 and will therefore remain the only small iPhone for the time being.

No chance at all for a small iPhone?
Is there no chance at all for a smaller iPhone? Well, it’s not very likely, but it could still be that Apple opts for a smaller screen size with a future iPhone SE. According to the latest rumors, however, we should rather assume a 6.1-inch screen, with the appearance of an iPhone XS. But Apple has changed its plans for the iPhone SE several times, so we’re not giving up hope just yet.
