iPhone 14 Pro shows battery percentage in the classic way

The iPhone 14 Pro (Max) may show the battery percentage in the status bar in the classic way. Because the notch makes way for a smaller, pill-shaped cutout, there will soon be room for it again.

‘Battery percentage returns on iPhone 14 Pro’

Before the release of the iPhone X in 2017, you could always easily see how much percent battery you had left in the status bar. Due to the notch, there was unfortunately no longer room for this indicator on newer devices. According to a rumor from MacRumors however, the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will display the battery percentage in the classic way. Due to the smaller, pill-shaped cutout in the screen, there is again enough space.

Apple makes more changes to the status bar of the new flagships. For example, the signal strength icon moves to the left side of the screen. You will find it next to the information about your provider.

Some other iPhones show battery percentage in iOS 16 inside the battery icon

The ‘regular’ iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max retain the old design, including the notch. They will also show the battery percentage in the status bar again, but then within the battery icon. The same goes for many other iPhones in recent years, once they’ve been updated to iOS 16. There are a few exceptions. On the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini, you’ll still have to scroll down to see what percentage of battery you have left.

The wait is almost over

Next Wednesday, September 7, the time has finally come: then Apple will announce the iPhone 14 series. It again consists of four smartphones. This year, however, the gap between the entry-level versions and the Pro models seems bigger than ever. For example, only the more expensive versions get a faster A16 chip. The new 48 megapixel camera is also reserved for the Pros.
