iPhone 14 may become very popular: Apple is ramping up production

The smartphone market may be in the doldrums right now, but the iPhone 14 is going against the trend. Apple has informed its suppliers that the new iPhone series will sell better than initially thought, with more iPhone 14 models now being produced.

iPhone 14: high demand

According to the Taiwan Economic Times Apple has instructed suppliers to produce more iPhone 14 models. The original plan was 90 million units, but that has now been increased to 95 million units, an increase of about five percent from the previous plan.

The optimism is said to stem from expected increased demand for the new iPhones, as well as improvements in component availability. Previously, Apple had a lot of problems with the worldwide chip shortages.

Last month, Apple reportedly told suppliers that the iPhone 14 would probably be better in the market than the iPhone 13 series, which Apple launched in September 2021. The iPhone 14 lineup is likely to be unveiled next month, in mid-September. Mass production will start in August.

Why is the iPhone 14 so popular?

Last year Apple barely tinkered with the iPhone, but this year Apple has more changes in store. This is especially true for the two most advanced devices: the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The Pro iPhones are rumored to have a 48-megapixel camera. Until now, an iPhone camera went up to 12 megapixels. This makes it possible to shoot even more detailed photos – especially if the lighting conditions are good. The iPhone 14 Pro is also the first iPhone to enable 8K filming.

Another striking change with the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) is the design. The notch at the top of the screen disappears, where Apple hides the selfie camera and the components for Face ID. Apple will soon process this in two cutouts in the screen. One is round; the other has an oval shape.
