iPhone 14: Apple gives the notch a new dimension

Yesterday, Apple announced its new iPhone 14 series. Where we are now used to the small notch or the punch-hole with Android, that is different with Apple. With the iPhone 14, the brand introduces ‘Dynamic Island’, what advantages does that have?

Deviate with the design from the trends, give it a trendy name, and score. We often see that at Apple; and the brand is now doing the same with the Apple iPhone 14. Yesterday there was the announcement of four new iPhone models; the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the 14 Pro Max. What is most striking about the new devices; the redesigned notch. This is admittedly different from the iPhone 13 series; the 14 still has a distinct black area in the screen. It’s an island that Apple has aptly named “Dynamic Island.”

If you are thinking of a large area without any content, then we need to update you. Apple has made a useful addition to the notch, and it may just be that this will be an inspiration for Android manufacturers. By means of software adjustments, this cutout can be expanded with notifications and other app information. Not only from Apple apps, but also from third-party apps. So a piece of dynamic software is added, which immediately gives it functionality.

Think of an incoming call that is processed in this, the voice recording or the music player that you can control directly from here. Instructions for navigation via Apple Maps are also included in the Dynamic Island and the same applies to products such as in-ear buds that are linked to the smartphone, or the icon for the Face ID facial recognition. They can also be expanded when the notification is pressed. The notch itself still offers space for, for example, the front camera and certain sensors.

eSIM

It is also possible that Apple will usher in another new period with the iPhone 14. In America, the manufacturer only supplies smartphones with an eSIM slot. This means that there is no more room for a physical SIM card. This is probably not yet the case for the Netherlands because eSIM is less common, but manufacturers may start working with it more in the coming year. The major providers in the Netherlands already have this option, Samsung also already offers it on the Galaxy S22 series, among others.

If you are curious about the iPhone 14 series, although we hope you will stay with DroidApp, you can contact Coolblue, Mobiel, Belsimpel, MediaMarkt, T-Mobile and Bol.com. The pre-order starts September 9th, the delivery next Friday, the 16th of September.
