iOS to Android: Google app will transfer photos from iCloud to Google Photos

Apple offers an Android application called Migrater to iOS, and Google will offer the same thing but to do the exact opposite. It will be available on iOS to allow users who want to abandon the iPhone for an Android smartphone to easily transfer data.

Support for iCloud photos with transfer to Android

This application has already been talked about. Last year, we learned that it will allow transfer between an iPhone and an Android smartphone using Wi-Fi or a cable. This will be much easier than the current method of going through Google Drive to do the equivalent of a backup. Users will be able to easily transfer contacts, messages and applications (as long as there is an equivalent on the Play Store). And as we can see, this is all about local content.

Today, 9to5Google dug into Google’s Data Restore Tool app and noticed several things related to transferring from iOS. These include iCloud and transferring iCloud Library to Google Photos.

It is already possible to transfer your iCloud library to Google Photos thanks to a tool launched last year by Apple. But several days are needed for the transfer to take place. Has Google found a method to make the process faster? Or will we have to wait a few more days? The answer is not known at this time.

There is no date yet for the availability of the application from Google to facilitate the transfer from iOS to Android.
