iOS 16 brings battery percentage back – but not to all iPhones
The iPhone will finally have it again: a battery percentage in the status bar. This percentage had disappeared since the iPhone X in 2017, but it returns with iOS 16. At least: with some iPhones.

iOS 16 Battery Percentage: Which iPhones?
Until now, it was not possible to display the battery percentage in the status bar on all iPhones with Face ID (facial recognition). An icon in the top right corner gives an indication, but you don’t see a specific number. A major annoyance for many iPhone users.
With iOS 16, the much-requested battery percentage returns to the status bar, according to the fifth beta (test version) of the new operating system. At ‘Settings>Battery’ you will find an option to display the battery percentage. That looks different than before: the percentage can be seen in the battery icon, instead of next to it.
Battery percentage not for all iPhone models
Oddly enough, the percentage is not available for all iPhone models. With an iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini you do not have the option. The first two are iPhones with an LCD screen. It is possible that Apple found the resolution there too low to get the percentage right. However, the mini iPhones have a high pixel density, so it’s strange that the option is missing there.

By the way, there is already a way to see the battery percentage. To do this, swipe up the Control Panel; You do this by swiping down from the top right of the screen. With the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini, that remains the only way.
