iOS 15.6 fixes Apple Music bug automatically docking in iPhone

The iOS 15.6 update is the occasion to fix a bug where Apple Music was automatically put in the dock of the iPhone if the user uninstalled then reinstalled the application.

iOS 15.6 no longer automatically Apple Music in the dock

The case made headlines last month. Users uninstalled the Music app (because they weren’t using it) and put apps like Spotify in the dock. Having it in the dock allows quick access, regardless of the page you are on at the home screen.

The same users then opened the App Store and downloaded the Music app. To their surprise, Apple Music decided to go directly to the dock, to the point of turning an existing application (like Spotify or other). This behavior was suspicious: was Apple taking advantage of its position to promote its application? Or was it a bug?

Apple has confirmed that it is investigating this story. But to everyone’s surprise, the group did not specify whether this was voluntary behavior on the part of iOS or a simple bug. Whatever the answer, iOS 15.6 corrects this behavior and Apple Music no longer automatically installs itself in the dock if it is already composed of four applications.

iOS 15.6 is currently in beta, the second beta was launched on Tuesday for developers and yesterday for public testers. Apple does not yet say when this update, which does not bring any particular novelty, will be released in a stable version for all users.
