iOS 14.8 is available for download

Apple now offers iOS 14.8 (build 18H17) for download for iPhone and iPadOS 14.8 for iPad. This version arrives just days before the release of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.

The existence of iOS 14.8 is in itself no surprise. An Xcode 13 beta had mentioned this update. This goes back to last month. Apple has decided not to offer betas for this version and is releasing the final version directly to the public. In any case, this is a first: no version of iOS has had the right (so far) to an x.8 update. iOS 11 has stopped at iOS 11.4, iOS 12 is at iOS 12.5 and iOS 13 is at 13.7.

To update to iOS 14.8, go to Settings> General> Software Update. You can also download the firmware from our dedicated page and do a manual installation via Finder (Mac) or iTunes (Windows).

There is currently no information on the content of the update (if not for the best for safety) Apple has not yet published the changelog. This article will be updated when it does.

Is this the ultimate version for iOS 14, knowing that Apple is about to release iOS 15? Not necessarily. After all, we learned a few weeks ago that Apple will allow its users to stay on iOS 14 and continue to have security updates.
