‘Instagram website gets update for posting messages’

Instagram was established years ago as a platform for mobile devices. There was a website, but it (currently) only allows users to view messages. Posting messages is not yet possible. Rumors point to an upcoming update of the website that should allow posting.

For posting to Instagram, users are currently assigned to the Android or iOS apps. That could change in the short term, according to one rumor maker on Twitter. In Paluzzi’s tweet, we see several images from the Instagram website; specifically, we see an unprecedented tool from the desktop site to post images and videos.

With an update of the Instagram website, it would be possible to share images directly from your computer to Instagram via the tool. Users can drag images into the tool for this, but it is also possible to select images via the explorer. In the Instagram tool you can then resize the image or video, put a filter over the image and you can add text, a location and an alternative text. The process appears to be the same as in the Instagram apps for Android and iOS.

After the update, the website seems to have some limitations – it doesn’t seem possible to take an image with your laptop (or desktop) camera. In addition, with the current menu it is not yet possible to place Stories and Reels. Instagram may develop the functions side by side and it will eventually become possible to post such content via the website.

Launch of a new website

The rumor maker said in his tweet that the feature is present, but is currently under development and is being tested internally. “Don’t expect to be able to use it anytime soon,” said the Twitter user. When the function is rolled out, there is still some coffee grounds to look at.

In the meantime, Instagram is working hard on its apps for Android and iOS. The company says it is developing an app called ‘Instagram for Kids’ that is suitable for children under 13 years old.
